Unfortunately this was designed in a lab to do whatever cocomelon does to babies to my brain specifically. I'm asking for compassion and understanding in these dark times.

I want to grab Raskolnikov by the throat, bite down full force, and shake him like a terrier with a rat (complimentary). Also Razumikhin is too good for him, babe I don't care how hot Raskolnikov is, he's not worth it!!

This guy sucks so bad, 10/10. Can't wait to watch him destroy his own life and the lives of those around him

You ever think to yourself while reading a book "wow what an excellent writer, thank God he's dead so there is 0 chance of me meeting him in real life"?

Forgot to track this one. Little unsure so far. Love the concept, not loving the prose or the way exposition is handled. I'm giving it to page 150 because once the action is in full swing maybe some of these issues will resolve themselves and I think there's a lot of potential here.

Every time I pick up this book it's a fight to put it back down again. The deathgrip I can already tell this series is going to have on me....

The first half of this book was pretty engaging but after THE Lorenzo dies the narrative the author is trying to stuff this all into has stopped working. Fascinating events are described in boring ways because of this and I'm REALLY fighting with this latter section despite how interested I am in the subject (especially Savonarola). The triumphs and defeats, the epic highs and lows of pop history 😩
