Randomly picked this book up at my uncle’s place out of curiosity. Was glued to the couch INSTANTLY.
I miss when books were written with intent and trusted the reader to have some kind of intelligence, not spoon feeding cliched tropes and on-the-nose dialogue. So glad I picked this up.
Only 50 pages but the author knows how to WRITE.

The beginning was great. Setting up the world and the characters kept me interested.
But as the book went on, we’re more focused on romance and the MC is more focused on romance. She’s almost completely forgotten about her initial motive and it’s just a very cliched “enemies” to lovers kind of relationship. They’re not even enemies, they’re both just annoying.

I’m genuinely considering DNF-ing. It’s not bad, it’s just so boring and long.

I was a bit scared to start this book, seeing as how much of a chore the 2nd book was…
But I was thankfully mistaken. We’re going back to the sci-fi stuff and it’s not boring at all.

I don't like this book but I want to know why the girl is somehow a ghost by the end. I don't understand how so many people are rating this 5 stars cuz the relationship is bleh. (NGL, I judged the book by the cover and thought it was thriller romance but anyway...)

The “small delicate hand” quote is basically a segue into how much the MC wants to be with her because she’s small and petite and he’s her knight in shining armour basically. Yes we get it, she’s tiny. Move on pls 😭

My expectations on contemporary books are really taking a decline.
Why must every woman be “petite” and “small frame” and “delicate”??? Here’s a line from the actual story that happened in the middle of the MC finding out that main love interest is basically starving;
“Her small, delicate hand couldn’t even squeeze my bicep.”
AND WHY IS EVERYONE NOT TALKING JUST TALK TO EACHOTHER. THE FLIP?

Honestly, this book just gets better and better. I think it was slower at the beginning because they’re just introducing all the characters and their surface-level stuff. But once the main character starts getting to know them on a deeper level, everyone is so fleshed out. Very character driven. I’m loving the individual conflicts.

Fatima, when you get this book, I’m sorry for the massive chunks of texts I’ve written. 😭 This book is written so well, and if it wasn’t for my impending assignments, I would read it all. Not a single flaw in this book. It’s a pain to put it down.

Very slice-of-life book. I like how Sneha is struggling with how complex her emotions are and it’s very realistic; sometimes, certain things can’t be boiled down to “I hate this” or “I love this”. I like how the book explores how Sneha’s family have been both essential and detrimental to who she is. Everyone feels like a whole person rather than just a character… except for Tig right now.

It’s a lot slower than the first book. It picks up when they talk about the scifi, but it drops off when it comes to progressing the plot… very mid book.

Dude stop talking about the imaginary girlfriend 😭 I want the aliens and sci-fi, not whatever delusions Dr Luo is on.

I LOVE THIS BOOK IM ABSOLUTELY HOOKED!!! Three straight nights I’ve been up till 12 reading.

Pretty good so far. However, I went into the book thinking it’s a romance but so far, there’s only been one short life where they’ve been romantically involved. It’s not a bad thing as I think the author did the other iterations well, but it’s definitely outside my expectations.

It’s so fun to cringe at Evie. “My little tornado” “you’re chaos” GET OUT OF HERE. I swear she’s just a tiny bit clumsy and she has no filter when talking but that suddenly makes her chaos incarnate for the people in this book it’s so funny to me lol.

I’m trying really hard to like this book because I know so many people have such nice things to say and a lot of the influencers I follow like this book…
But the writing just makes me think this is what would happen if Rupi Kaur wrote a love story. At some times the writing provides some thought provoking one-liners… just not my style of book if I’m being honest.

Very engrossing read. I haven’t formed my opinion on whether the book is really good or just good, because it hinges on how it ends. So far, I’m curious to see whether the MC’s main beliefs are challenged at all because he holds a lot of misogynistic views as a result of propaganda. Book does a good job to not encourage these idea so it’s not a flaw.

I’ll be honest, the first 100 pages were quite slow, but they were never boring. All the characters feel familiar, and I think it’s because they feel like real people, with flaws and thoughts that are only known to themselves while everyone else only sees what they think they see. And then around the 200 mark, everything just becomes so much more tense. I can’t put the book down.

The birthing scene with Grace where the pretentious doctor is so satisfying. When I say it’s made me feel so vindicated from within my soul when he gets the door shut in his face and when the mother tries to spit out an apology, I really mean it.

Honestly, the main character is the dictionary definition of “girlboss”, but she deserves of all the respect she has. She works hard and tirelessly for the town.

THE CHARACTERS IN THIS BOOK ARE SO WELL MADE. THEY FEEL SO REAL.

Everyone is flawed in a very human way, not like a “character-in-a-book” way. And by this, I mean their flaws make sense for who and what they are, but they aren’t vilified for opposing the main character. Other than a pretentious doctor and North, all the characters make very real mistakes and express very real emotions to their situation.

I’m only 10% of the way into this book and it’s already one of the best books this year. I’m hoping it will remain just as good throughout the book.

Characters so far are unique and the interactions between one another are layered. Rather than one emotion driving an interaction, these characters feel real, as often love, fear, or disappointment all mingle into nuanced conversations.
Cant wait to read more. :)
