I don't think reading theory is something I enjoy but there were moments in here with the interviews and archived letter correspondences that helped me finish it. Definitely would prefer to just go over those on my own separate from these papers but it was a good introduction and jumping off point.

I remembered this hitting like a gut punch when I first read it in highschool and I'm happy to report it is still such a good read that made me emotional.

I can certainly say I felt moved by some parts of it but others left me uninterested and unconvinced that these two truly did care for one another. There is a very intense melancholy and depression hanging over the latter half of this book and I think the writing shines when we as readers are left thinking about the intricacies of their undefined dynamic and how opposite they could often be. The ending hurt a lot.

Imagine if God himself was like "lol ditch your kids on your neighbours doorsteps because they're ruining our whole celibacy is close to Godliness vibe"

So no one else thinks it's weird that we're repeatedly told Star Flower is hooking up with Clear Sky because she views him as a replacement for her dead dad... the dead dad Clear Sky killed? No? Just me?

Why has Clear Sky now canonically cucked both his brother AND his son
