S.E. Tomas writing is highly addictive. I feel like I am captured in time with Jim at the scene of his detailed activities.

I am astounded with the indomitable spirit that Nick has.(People described as having indomitable spirits don't need pep talks or protein shakes; their strength comes from within. The adjective indomitable starts with the Latin prefix in, which means "not." The second part of the word is also from the Latin word domitare, meaning "to tame.") https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary...

"I knelt before Mary and asked for the courage to accept what is. To accept a son who was very ill, did not fit society's norms, and yet had to find a way to survive. I couldn't change him, and I couldn't change the world around him. I was beginning to understand the concept of letting go. At the same time, I had not yet embraced actual surrender."

Straight talk, from the abyss. Reading whilst listening to the birds singing outside, welcoming springtime. Nice contrast!

Laurie's such a funny gal that I think we're twins separated at birth. I definitely have to laugh at myself more often.

Loved the intro where the poor young pastor saw an entire pew crack in half spilling the contents of worshippers onto the floor. How would one keep a straight face?

Cathy is on page 118 of 146 of A Gift of Hope: Helping the Homeless
Attempting to understand why people end up homeless as I have started working as a volunteer on a soup truck with this population. I admire Danielle Steel for honouring the memory of her son Nick Traina, who struggled with mental illness and died by suicide, who had a heart for these people while he lived. I really enjoyed her other book about him: 'His Bright Light, The Story of My Son'.
