Alice is an insane point of view character. She is so narrow minded and my brain is just racing with all the potential truths she’s not picking up on.

Reading books where u don’t like the protagonist is kind of thrilling. He’s a dunce.

It has good moments but also in a world where there is fake currency, why is someone throwing Pennies around?

We’re in the fae world right now. This implies there are fairy STDs??? What the hell. Also the FMC mentioned they get a 6oz water ration…. I don’t even want to think of the historical implications of that.

I cannot recall why I rented this book. Here we are!
The main FMC has that annoying fantasy protagonist tone. The sarcastic & witty quips are killing me and I JUST started.

THE NARRATOR IS FUCKING SINGING. PLEASE SOMEONE REMOVE MY EARS. THIS IS SO AWFUL. They're still laughing btw. That hasn't stopped.

This is one of, if not, the CRINGIEST books I've ever listened too. The narrators are not helping either. Why are we LAUGHING SO MUCH. I don't need to hear it, I know it's an auditory experience but I'm about ready to call the cops & file a harassment complaint.
I don't know if I have it in me to finish. The amount of times I've YELLED because of how cringe things were is astronomical for being just 22% through.

I want to vote in the 2025 best book polls but I legit didn’t read (or if I did- love) any of the books on the LIST. I gotta ready more current books next year. So I can vote in the next poll. No other reason.

It’s getting easier to read. I def should not have started with a Stalin book, perhaps a history book of the terror, or the Bošković Revolution?? Bah.

I am reading this because I know nothing about the USSR besides what I watched in the movie The Death of Stalin. So far it's jumping around between the 1910s, 20s, and 30s. Not awesome for someone trying to get a grasp of the story as a whole. The language used is also unfamiliar to me and not explained.. Clearly I might be out of my depth, but not loving the structure of it so far.

I read all of my fav five stars in the first half of the year. I’m over here in October reading absolute stinkers right now. #suffering.

The 17 hour audio book was a bit daunting, but I’m very much engaged!
