completely blindsided. has the plainest prose ever yet manages to be the only book i’ve read since middle school that makes me feel like i’m physically IN its world. just finished an extremely moving scene and was in tears behind the counter at work while also beside myself with astonishment at john williams’ unbelievable command of language. on track to being one of my all-time favorites

this kid is as precocious & pretentious as i was when i was his age. he’s endearingly frustrating. getting a bit repetitive but im over halfway done so might as well finish it tonight
