A bit dull so far tbh, lots of cliches about the Great Depression. The writing style is overly simplistic to me, kinda reads as a book intended for kids. The premise behind the book is interesting though so I will keep reading it.

Made it to Combray II! I’ve been reading it slowly so far. I’m enjoying the way that Proust talks about memory and time. I was moved by the idea of time travelling in your sleep. Also, the idea of objects taking on the spirits of dead loved ones, reviving your memories of them.

Other notes:
-Pages upon pages of Freudian mommy issues
-I don’t understand the references to 19th century France class system lol
