Trying to wrap my brain around this... "Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows."

I'm already slightly disappointed—mainly from a craft perspective. Roth chose to add another perspective, from Tobias, whereas the previous two books are written from Tris' POV. It's a cheap way to do what she wanted. In short, she proves in "Allegiant" her level of writing is barely average, and her world, her story itself, suffers because of this.

I'm glad Tris is finally snapping out of her deep, deep depression... It was a little too drawn out for me.

I figured out how I feel about this series--more on that later.

Interesting developments...

I'm still unsure how I feel about this book, but it's such a quick read that I'll be onto the second one shortly. It is picking up a bit though.

Despite the fact I couldn't stand most of this book, it was still excellent. Amazing really, considering a man wrote it, and his ideas were so far beyond his time.

Kay Boyle's short "Winter Night" is breathtaking, beautiful, innocent, sad, and wonderful.

Willa Cather's short story "A Wagner Matinee" makes little impact. I can't be sure it even struck a single chord. Her writing is clear but affects me little.

Cora Lee is a great chapter! love it!

Such an interesting world, the circus, and such in-depth characters. It really is a book difficult to put down.

It's so wonderfully peppered with insight in love and lust.

A hundred pages in and I'm still unsure how I feel about this book.
