not far in at all but already the Voice in this writing is so impressive and engaging

i am back to this book and i HATE Barbara (the sister) more than anything i have hated ever

agatha christie i assumed you wouldn’t be such a misogynist but here we are i guess

this is taking me forever because it is SO sad and I’m listening to it but unlike SOME plays about puritans the time between listening makes me realize how much I love it

i have been trying to read this book for FOUR MONTHS now and i am only halfway through because i do in fact hate it. will i DNF a seminal american text just because there’s not a single character i can stand? because i already know how it goes? because i get tired of watching women suffer? who knows. stay tuned.

can’t highlight on this app but “if only I could find something I love half as much as you love talking about the stars” HURTS me. what do you mean you don’t have anything you love that much.

so. the version i have is different from the one on here and it’s actually 570 pages instead of 498 so whilst i thought i was almost done i still have an entire quarter of the book to go. lol. lmao even. (this book is fantastic)

i waited years to read this book and man i am so glad that i did. it was worth it

the back cover of this book promised that it would be cathartic, affecting, and profoundly romantic, and so far it is delivering on those promises—I don’t want it to be over but I want to keep reading

i know this is a great american play because i want to strangle the mother character with my hands

ending this book with a reference to the “there is a time for _____ and a time for _____” passage from ecclesiastes is CRIMINAL in the BEST WAY. that WRECKED me
