(Ch. 61-62): This is already one of my favorite arcs. Ken’s being pushed to his limits and presumably this will be a catalyst for a complete change in him. Perhaps to become more like the “monster” certain Ghouls can be. The dial ticks slowly more towards Ghouls as the series progresses. I mean, his hair literally turned white. Jason is awesome, Yamori? And I’m excited for plot lines to converge.

I like the developments between Charlie, Fay, and Alice. I think it's a rather mature situation but I wish we got to "see" some of these scenes between Charlie and Fay. I understand the entire book is through Charlie describing it but often Charlie will describe exactly how something happened as opposed to in a detached like way like his descriptions of Fay's dismissive-ness. Looking forward to Charlie working in lab

Chapter 59 & 60: Love how Kaneki has Touka and Nishiki as the bros. W Bros. Time to lock in and get a dub. Nishiki & Touka are my goats. Don't kill my goats. For the Doves, Jozou was great, riding the leader's bike into the tower was frankly +2 letter grades for their character. I like Amon, but truth be told the rest haven't accomplished much interesting as of yet. Looks like we're going to see Kaneki next ch.

Nah they better not kill my boy Banjo that'd be some crazy shit. And would be deeply upsetting. Kaneki has to lock in and get some power behind him and some confidence so he can protect the people like Banjo that need protecting. They deserve it!!! This little Cult of Ghouls that want to kill the Doves is interesting, and definitely makes sense. Looking forward to Kaneki's lap-dog arc in the next volume.

Finished this volume. It's tragic that L has left, he's the best character in all of manga/anime to me. I just think he's awesome. It was impossible for him to win though, he was thinking too logically, and was completely hung up on this idea that the "13 days" rule was real. Unfortunately, he could never have predicted Light was completely lucky and had a trump card in Rem & Misa, a bit crazy how close L was.

They're going to use Matsuda for the plan against Higuchi in order to figure out the means of killing. I always quite enjoyed this portion of the story, I think the action is really amping up and we're approaching the half-way point. Matsuda is a good character. I love Light and L authentically working together, and I hate that it has to end soon.

(June 21st & 23rd): I think that this new female character is really fun for Charlie, and the reveal that the OLD Charlie still resides within current Charlie is confusing to a degree, but really interesting as current Charlie continues to develop. He's struggling with adult things, and that makes sense. I hope we see more from her and Charlie together.

Got to Progress Report 14. The Convention was great. Obviously, Charlie Gordon very much dislikes the way the scientists were talking about him. Even Burt, who Charlie sees as his friend, went beyond what he should have in desire to explain the experimentation and show-off. Charlie's choice to let Algernon out was exciting, and the little chase that ensued led to Charlie and Algernon taking their leave. Cool ch. end.

(Ch. 55: Plot) Kaneki’s in an interesting situation. Very much jiving with Banjo and his crew. Hope they don’t get massacred anytime soon or HOPEFULLY ever. Introduced to a new Investigator. Seems interesting. Little group they got going on is fun to bounce to every now and then. Wonder when they’ll actually start investigating though… Whole lot of intros and nothing else lol. My Ken Q from last ch. answered.

(Chapter 53 - Lecture): A lesson in Kagune and their matchups. My only question is did the doctors jam a completely random ass organ into Kaneki that isn’t in any medical textbooks to give him his Kagune…? Juzo is neither great or lame so far. Murderous but also dumb and inept to a degree. Looking forward to the Ghoul Agency characters developing. Decent volume so far, mostly set-up and intros.

Chapter 29: Anakin has arrived. Awesome seeing the “in-betweens” of the scenes in the first movie. Plagueis & Sidious freak out at the idea they spawned Anakin following their cracking of the force. Makes Anakin seem like a lot less stupid of a character and more like a consequence. Very fun seeing Dooku up to things, too.

Chapter 28: I believe the end of this chapter is precisely before the start of the first movie, it really does make everything that happens in it way more interesting. The blockade, Naboo & Amidala, and the trouble in the senate and amongst the Jedi simply has much more backing now and while that film is still rather boring this fills holes in the story. Getting Palpatine’s pov is great. Plagueis convinces Sifo.

Chapter 26 - This was a cool chapter, some background into how Maul is doing being stationed on world with what amounts to essentially nothing to do. I think it's great we get to see some of what he is up to. Sidious had to confront the leader of Naboo, and it's always enjoyable to read these scenes knowing Sidious always has the upper hand, no matter what. Plagueis has to abandon Sojourn, which was a spectacle.

Chapter 25: Palpatine does some political things. It’s very interesting to read, I find the sequence of events to be placed in clever order, and this novel all does come off as a singular rather clever plan by the Sith. It’s a shame this level of story telling is sorely lacking in most other areas of Star Wars. Very fun getting to see the beginning of Maul, Padmé, hell, any one of these characters.

The Dad's name was Kunishige I need to lock in and remember that. I suck at remembering Japanese names. One thing this book is certainly great at is PACE, we've already got the next "villain", who since they work for the Kamunabi I'm sure is a decent person and may even become a friend of Chihiro. We'll see! But it's the classic, "Hey we need to go hunt the MC now." it's happening so early. I'm along for the ride.

Chapter 17 - The fight vs. Sojo was fantastic. Them "eating" together was quite unexpected but such a cool scene, the contrast between their beliefs and interpretations on what Kenichiro Rokuhira believed. It's what his father said, "Look at the world through your own eyes." Which is what both Chihiro and Sojo are doing. Sojo has been proven "wrong" in a sense. Amazing art, that last panel is simply stupendous.

Chapter 48 - A CCG focused chapter. Pretty neat to check up on Amon. I had forgotten about him. He’s seemingly getting a bit of a crew now to investigate the 11th ward murders. They’re also interested in Sukiyama and Rize, both dead now of course. However they also want Touka, so I’m interested to see Amon’s drive for revenge guide him. Not to mention this new freak of a 3rd Rank Investigator to spice it up.
