This book is no less annoying to read than the first two times I tried. But I have 2 Goodreads challenge bookmarks to collect in the next 3 days so I'm slogging through it.

usually sci-fi has an issue with adequately explaining the world while also making the plot continue to move. asimov does a wonderful job of making everything make sense without sacrificing movement

so she's not going to go to grad school because... her friend's job is bad? she's dreaming too big? I don't understand. we just spent like 3 chapters exploring her desire to go to grad school (out of nowhere, mind you) and now she's just dropping it. this is what happens when we start throwing in random irrelevant plot points, yall.
