This book is HEAVVYYYYY 😭 It’s also dragging just the teeniest tiniest bit. I just want these kids to get some relief and for all this madness to be over bc this is simply insane. 💀

The men in this book are so profoundly and egregiously unlikable. Gross.

The tension & in this book is DELICIOUS, I love it. I’m also obsessed w the FMC & MMC both individually and together. Only annoying thing is how many times they bring up how big & strong Dylan is 💀

I also deeply love how this is written. It def reads younger but not YA, and not too old to where it’s no longer relatable. This is a story abt unpacking past trauma in your twenties, and watching that unfold through Sage & Eli’s love story has been hilarious, touching, romantic, and just truly a breath of fresh air.

For the FIRST time EVER, I don’t mind the miscommunication. Bc for them, it truly makes sense.

I have more to say:

The more I think about this book the more I love it —how the characters are developed, the grumpy/sunshine vibe, & their layers being peeled back as we get to know them better. I love that they’re both a little traumatized & working through it — it makes them so so relatable to me. And my favorite thing is when romance authors can address heavy topics but still keep the overall mood light.

This book is the slow burn to end ALL slow burns. Two of my favorite tropes rolled into one in a way that feels so natural & not at all forced — fake dating & forced proximity.

I have loved every second of my reading experience so far. This book is relatable, it’s funny, it’s SEXY, the chemistry/tension are palpable, it’s everything. I have no notes. Not a single one. GODDD I’m having so much fun reading.

So far, so good! I been hooked since page 1 and haven’t been able to put this down. Love the grumpy x sunshine vibes going on here, and Sage’s confidence is so fun to watch!

Toni Morrison is talented. I read this book a long long time ago, and even so early on in the book, my heart is broken and I am reminded of just how deeply this impacted me the first time.

Chapter 24 was incredible. Baby one thing miss Lore gone do is hatch up a plan. She ate that fr 🤣. She got in and out of that castle in a single chapter, a single night, even. She really did eat that up 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Even though I much prefer plot-driven books to character-driven, this book has been all plot & no character development 😭 I have no idea what happened to Lore’s mother, I barely know anything abt her father, I have no idea what Asher’s background is, or his relationship to Isla/Finn/Gryph, like it’s just all characters with VERY minimal development… which is CRAZY considering the book is almost over 😭

Wait a minute 😭 so just two pages before this, they had their tongues down each others throats, and now they’re sleeping with a pillow between them?? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 girl please, get me off this ride

Ok….the kiss finally happened, and it was great, but WHERE was the buildup????? Slow burns are my favorite, but this burn—the pining, the stolen touches and glances, the budding emotional chemistry—was nonexistent 😭 I get why they’re attracted to each other, but I don’t get how they’ve gotten so attached when they’ve barely spoken to each other fr.

So far so good, I just can already tell I’m gonna be annoyed by how Oraya’s written. She does the same thing Isla did in Lightlark, where I have to read “No, ____” on every other page 😭 In this book it adds nothing - the sentences read the exact same without the “no” attached.
