DNF at 24%. This is the book equivalent of a low budget movie. Some crappy dialogue gave it away right away, but I kept on reading cause I was interested in seeing where the plot went. But it took a ridiculous turn at this point, so here is where I call it.

I was really excited about this book about self-driving cars, but the only BAME character is an Indian woman who has decided to run from her abusive husband who has been arrested for human trafficking....??? Really? That stereotypical and offensive storyline is supposed to be what? Representation?

"If you break open your moral piggy bank and spend a little, you’ll buy a lot of goodwill in return. I’ve paid frequently over the years —turning the other cheek, smiling at offenders , pretending I don’t mind, laughing. Do you feel comfortable? How can I help? Here, that ignorance must be superheavy— let me carry that burden for you. Thing is, my emotional piggy bank is running out of change."

I think Mr. Dorrit may be the single most despicable character in all of Dickens.

Jessica is starting Cilka's Journey (The Tattooist of Auschwitz, #2)
I'm so glad this book exists to shed light on a moment in history that I had no idea about. The book opens post-WW2 with a young Jewish woman—who was separated from her peers at Auschwitz to be raped by Nazi officers—being charged with sleeping with the enemy and sent to a forced labor camp. Absolutely infuriating... Did the war and the camps teach them nothing?

Even though the author of this book is Muslim, there is some seriously problematic stuff in here.

"How had Ashkouri found recruits to his cause, if he was ready to stray from the most adamantine orthodoxy?" (Ashkouri leads a terror cell.)

What? Just... what? That statement implies that Islam supports terror. The opposite is actually true. Muslims who care about the orthodoxy will reject terror.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but my reaction to this book is one giant eye roll. Ideas as sentient beings?? Not cute, just gimmicky.
