I can’t wait to escape our bleak reality into a fantastical science fiction tale about an inscrutable force that casts a veil over our shared reality and eats away at our humanity while killing anyone that comes to realize what it’s been doing in secret. Hey wait a minute

OK, it’s getting really good. I’ve honestly not been nearly as interested in the spider narrative as I am in the human narrative, which is surprising to me, because let me tell you, I was really excited for the spider narrative. The spider plot is pretty same-y, and even though it’s cool, the human narrative is much more dynamic and momentous.

The most unbelievable thing in this book isn’t the nano-virus that expedites evolution nor the spiders that invent tesla coils, but the idea that British humor will still exist in 5,000 years

This book is extraordinarily insightful for its time, but it’s so distressing. I never want to read some of these chapters again.
