Heard the author on a podcast and fell in love with his use of language and imagery. I can see that coming through in the writing here, but sadly, will need to put this aside to meet some reading obligations.

This has to go back to the library; there’s a waiting list. I’ll recheck it out as soon as I can. (It’s apparently one of those one-city-reads, though not for CHS)

This particular copy has that funny paperback smell from the printing process so I keep discarding it for other books. Think I’ll release it this morning to Bookcrossing and get another copy that doesn’t smell.

(Continued) (maybe today’s Charleston, but in the 1950’s the accent was still quite distinct. She, ironically, doesn’t use it on the brother. Nor is her “southern Hebrew what I’ve heard here, but I digress.) all in all, I’m enjoying it, but waiting to see “my” Lady Astronaut emerge.

Written in a comment on a friend’s review of the book: I loved the short story, and about 80% of MRK’s other works. The rest I’ve just liked. I’m listening to the audible version, with her as the reader, which is fun. Her work as a puppeteer helps to make her a fun narrator. Her voice for the lead is a softer timid one, with what she thinks is a hint of a Charleston accent. (Continued)

An audible listen when Javaczuk announced he wanted to read this. Listening with him and still living the book

Having a very hard time catching the flow of this book, which is odd, because both the subject and the format are of interest to me. All those 4 star reviews. Should I keep on struggling?

While it's not a bad read, and some characters are interesting, I keep picking up other books to read simultaneously. Should I push on?

There were 2 quotes yesterday I didn't write down, but got this one, today. "Dreams are hopeful because they exist as pure possibility. Unlike memories, which are fossils, long dead and buried deep."
And, for the record, reading about a possible WWIII scenario with North Korea shooting first, sat more uneasily than it might have a week ago.

Actually, have finished, but if I mark it "read" GoodReads'll knock it off my currently reading list and I'll forget to write my thoughts. But, for the record, first thing I did was get another of this author's books, just to explore her brain a bit more.

Totally charmed by the description of readin Montaigne and that peculiar circumstance of losing your place and having to go back pages and pages before something sounds familiar.
