Lilly Scott is starting The Things That Matter: What Seven Classic Novels Have to Say About the Stages of Life
I chose this book so that I could understand Jane Eyre, better. I have attempted to read it before years ago. So this time I am approaching it from a different angle. Bildungsroman is the plot style that Eyre is written in, and I want to understand this plot as a writer. And of course the classics are always a way to learn something new.

I know this is a modern take on MetaFiction - the wandering trope that once you get on the ride, you dare not get off. It has an odd hook and line, and I the fish. Questions keep coming up, if your memory is being undone, then what is memory? Or the brother who at the age of six understands the world or what appears to be the world. Is the author writing as if he is caught in the bone clock as well?

So far, a lot is going down and Kade and Thomas seem to be the only sane people in an insane world. Although the Bastard Magical Daughter who also happens to be a Sorceress seems to understand the politics a bit better than most.

I just picked this book up from the Library. To be honest when I read the first book in this serious I was not sure I would continue. But hey, why not see where it goes, and what adventure awaits for the AI called Lovey and her new friend. No one ever said they would say no to a new body, if they could right?

This book is sitting in my bookcase - I am needing cold weather, a cozy sweater and a cup of coffee. Currently the weather is not cooperating!

Rebecca is the narrator of the past, through eyes older than her fifteen years. The adults flounder in the current moment, terrified of the future. Maybe the apples hanging in Sam's orchard are more a reliable messenger than everyone in the book? Certainly a possibility!

The repeating patterns are all said to be the rules in family. You just don't know what those are until things go bad. It is easy to tolerate bad behavior, violence and cruelty within family, to gag your heart and voice. It's always been that way, and always will. Until something snaps, and everything you once knew to be true or normal vanishes in one thought, the voice of I''m Done.
