chapter 5 right now— headed to a library due to some close-by business and decided to find a book to time myself reading to and in 24 mins I got 43 pages! :D

wait I’ve given this book too many compliments in the first 50 pages— I’m scared, please don’t turn sour… but also yay trans representation!! :D

wait— I was actually really confused whether Becca was actually a girl or the male lead who just looked like a girl from a different angle, but I’m actually really glad that one of the first impactful impressions in the story isn’t the male lead— unlike 90% of the stories who introduce the main love interest in a ‘not-so-subtle-subtle-way’

haven’t had much time today to read, but dang— this backstory was well described and hit hard actually 😭

I’ve just started this book so I don’t stress myself out over finals (and the two other high fantasy plots I’m reading), and I surprisingly LIKE the speaker’s descriptions and way of thinking so far

idk but I think plot would be cooler if scarlet ended up with legend instead 😭

for once in my life, I’m reading paperback instead of digital 🫣

it feels like it’s being written in a ‘wrong order’? My current theory is that Kathy’s lover is Gabriel, and the woman he saw him kiss was Alicia. And how he is defensive and protective of Alicia is because he knows that she was also wronged ?

this is actually such an intruiging book and it hits my 3 favourite genres, and i'm so giddy reading this mystery thriller set in a HISTORICAL timeline with a smidgen of romance?? Also, i like how much terminology i've had to search up due to it being accurate to its timeline, research was definitely done well while writing this book! :0

maybe i'm not one for slice of life books...
