This takes place in MN in the year my dad was born. The family in it reminds me of my own. A boy with a sister and a brother, a father who is a pastor who moves the family around a lot for the ministry; that is exactly my dad’s childhood! I suspect that my dad might relate to the mix of curiosity and resentment towards religion that Frank feels. Plus it’s a murder mystery so the book was pretty much made for me.

I am very upset at the state of things currently.

I’m pissed about how the investigation has turned out and really don’t want to believe what they found out about Danika.

Also, when the twist with Hunt occurred I was so betrayed. It made me even more pissed that Bryce suddenly and without much reason, forgave him and was willing to give herself up for him. That left me flabbergasted and annoyed.

It took this long for my interest to finally be peaked in this book. I started this so long ago and could never get myself fully in it but I think that is changing now. I’m not sure why so many people are obsessed but maybe the second half of the book will get me.
