Meredith @ Currently Reading podcast gave a positive review with caveat that it's not as good as other Sager books. Selected for 4/17 or 4/18 drivetime audio.

I am definitely in a reading funk. Even books I've anticipated for a long time are falling flat. Taking a break for a while. I have some nonfiction (genealogy) coming on hold, and a book club gathering (my first!) for a book I read a while back, so at least there's something to keep my toes in the water.

Dull so far. I find myself skimming through whole blocks of pages, particularly the sections on our 1600's "original witch," which cover the same story I've read before. Up until now this book was nearly indistinguishable from The Physick Book of [some old witch ancestor.] I hope the pace is finally starting to pick up here in Chapter....19.

I am really struggling with this book. It's peopled with so many characters I dislike, and the tale it tells is so boring, all the charm I usually find in Atkinson's writing is buried. Seven chapters of *yawn.* I am pretty sure I'm going to bail out. SOrry, Kate!

I've cleaned up my Audible library and found about 100 unread books I want to read this year so I'm not renewing Audible. I have access to four libraries and Scribd so there are lots of options - without all the Free and Included Audible titles sending me off on side quests. A Christmas-theme cozy is qued-up for my drive shift tomorrow and might spend the rest of this month catching up on podcasts! Happy New Year!

Finished the Kindle sample and I'm on the fence. I like it but it might yet be a little too directly self-helpish for me right now, but I must admit that little story about risking humiliation on the subway was scarily on point for me. I'll decide in a day or two if I want to spend the ten bucks Amazon wants. None of my libraries have the e-book.

Trying to burn away my unease with scary thrillers isn't working. I'm shifting gears and hunting down some positivity. On the hunt for lyrical writing and books with subtle soul-soothing properties.....

I started Ninth House last night and it didn't catch fire, nor did it turn me off; so I read another book today and now I am returning to this one. I think I'd enjoy it more if I'd ever given much thought to Yale and collegiate secret societies, but I do love college campuses and secrets - along with all the other stuff teased at by the book marketing - so I'm wallowing through hoping it picks up soon.

Alright. After several marginal-to-crappy books in a row, I've lined up what I hope are three sure-fire winners to keep me spellbound for at least a few days. Wish me luck. * I'm goin' in...*

Okay. Rollins kinda redeemed himself on the miles thing. But it's still hard to believe that none of the other characters noticed!

Based on high recommendations from trusted readers, I'm trying hard to get into this but I think my love for archeological mcguffins may not extend include to Special Ops-type intrigue and love triangles. Also, it REALLY bothers me that the "treasure hunters," are seriously taking a biblical-era clue, found in the Arabian desert, to refer to a distance measured in MILES.

This is a marvelous creation. A memoir in verse!

I am about halfway through and decided to slow down and experience just a verse or three each day.

I recommend it for all ages (yours included,) but it would be particularly good for home school, classrooms and family discussion (NOT just regarding race-related issues, but those, too.)

My Kindle is set to large font so the page count for me is in the 900s. I am trying to decide if I want to invest any more time in this. I'm a sucker for time travel and I'm only just now getting to it, but the narrator's voice has gotten so tiresome, I think maybe I don't care if she remains stuck in 1851 forever. I am not "bored," exactly, I am just. ... *sigh * yeah, I'm bored.
