"Because we've shared so many memories, because I don't even know how to think about myself without talking to you."

“Just because the door isn’t open as wide as you want it to be doesn’t mean she didn’t have to kick it in before you got here”

it’s not so much a collection of essays as short mini biographies , which is fine, just not what i wanted. an essay should have a point or argument to it

i think the reason a lot of this book isn’t hitting isn’t bc im younger than the author like i originally thought i think its because im not american

i feel like i should have already known that ‘Max Factor’ was a real makeup artist in the 1920s

literally in a fantasy universe and male preferential succession/inheritance is still a thing

this is such a stupid thing to have beef with but why are you naming your characters after greek mythological figures that are the wrong gender?? like come on it isn’t that hard?? and it’s not coincidence cos no one is coming up with the name “Io” by accident!!! the same with sarah j maas calling a MALE villain after the goddess of discord - like there are plenty of male gods who are evil - pick one of them!

Terry pratchett reads like a translation from a gcse latin paper

“If anything i’m a misanthrope. An equal-opportunity hater”
