ch.40, 31 pages read. After the Marquis dies in a fit of madness, Grenouille travels to the town of Grasse to find the techniques on how to procure his perfect scent. In the midst of his journey he is gobsmacked with the scent of another prepubescent innocent girl & desires to take her scent after learning olfactory methods from Arnulfi the widow & her boytoy Druot. He comes to his senses for a bit before worsening.

only 44 pages read today, every time I feel for grenouille he says something that immediately makes me think “wow this guys kind of a freak”

Apparently it’s taboo for a girl under 13 years to be with an adult man but it’s not if she’s 14. Maybe it has to do with the British perception of Italians?
