I started this book knowing from the blurb that I would likely resonate with some of the things the author wants to say about gender and expectations and that I would probably like Lady Tremaine. I was concerned, however, that the book would not be able to convince me that the original relationship between her and her stepdaughter was ok. I stand corrected. I hated her stepdaughter IMMEDIATELY oh my god.

You can tell Carl didn’t start the journey as a cat person because a true cat person would NEVER say something like “we don’t risk our lives for pets”. A TRUE cat person knows SACRIFICE.

Literally the moment Kelly said she had a true crime podcast I was like “how is this a conflict. How are you hung up on her” because she sounds like the most obnoxious person in the world after witnessing ONE conversation. Like not anywhere NEAR the most important thing about this book but I’m so stuck on it. Are the straights ok????

Fun fact: I HATE love triangles. Hate them. So much. Like I love the twilight movies on a rainy day but I have to ignore it. Like I couldn’t read the books because I needed Bella to SHUT. UP. about Jacob. Good job to this author for making the premise and context of the triangle so interesting that I can handle it.
