this book had me roped in from the fucking BEGINNING I TELL YOU. something of big notice to me: zar felt disgusted after learning who her mystery maridrinian man was, but all keris felt was hurt, not any disgust towards HER even though she’s killed relentlessly… he will never stop loving her

i was worried we were only going to hear about this war from the maridrina side for long enough to create a bias but we actually got an ithicana pov early on which i liked! thought he was high key misogynistic but then mar reminded me hes just trying to “test out the waters” with what he says around her. the protectiveness is giving😛

pretty slow so far, took me a hot minute to get through the first 15% but now it’s starting to roll a little more easily

LOVING THIS SO FAR. such a good classic enemies to lovers, and emily henry’s writing is superb of course. “the words break apart like alphabet soup, letters splintering off in every direction, utterly meaningless nowa” like CMON. but ah, of course, the classic “it was a mistake!!” right after the first STEAMY, HOT kiss…UGH! continuing on!! chemistry is great!!
