Really intriguing so far. I don’t know what I was expecting but it has such a unique plot line that keeps me coming back.

Bell Hooks is so profoundly insightful. I just finished Chapter Ten where she talks about how women who focus on personal achievements are inherently seen as less capable of loving which is inherently untrue. It talks about how once again, misogyny seems to prevail through every aspect of our lives and it is our job to unpack it so as not to succumb to it under the guise of power.

New neural pathways are forming in my brain. I am a little shook

In this chapter he discovered Islam while in prison. It was a lot for me to take in personally but I’m still staying along for the ride.

It’s interesting to learn the details of Malcolm X’s life. I never would’ve expected some of the things I’ve read in this book so far but I think it’s all so important to acknowledge and recognize how these things made him who he was and who he became.

Just read chapter 5 and it was extremely insightful. It talked about how the desire for power and the desire for romantic love cannot coexist. Both partners must give up the former to fully experience the latter.

This feels like a must read and I love the way the book is laid out.

This book clocked me in the Preface. Bell Hooks has such a way with expressing her thoughts and I love the way she thinks.
