The way he writes is just so black stereotypical writing and it's trying too hard. First, he uses his magic to steal a car then a fight breaks out at the college party? Like really? Blah. Not even 50% finished yet and I have had it up to here with this type of writing.

On the other hand, the ancestral magic and being able to time travel to see events in world history blending real life with fantasy is awesome.

This book is very interesting, a bit overwhelming with the insane information for CU and many different characters, and a bit of repetitiveness. Also, what's up with the EXTREME amount of black references. Like let's not overdo it please. Nonetheless, I am enjoying it.
