The main character initially appears like she is a victim of the end of her parent’s relationship, but actually she has set a lot of horrible situations in her life in motion.

This poor young lady is spiraling and is in denial.

It’s sad how Dana picked up so many bad habits from her parents.

It’s not who said it but what they said.

So far this is a solid 3 star book.

Hazel is very unlucky in love. I’m shocked she gave Adam another chance, but it was obviously for her son’s sake.

Adam cheating on Hazel with a white woman while he preaches out Black Liberation is crazy! Instead of them dealing with their marital problems they both travel to opposite sides of the world and act as if the other doesn’t exist while remaining married. They both needed partners who were okay with being a support and letting their significant other shine.

This book may be better as a movie, but as a book it is not giving.

Adam gets worse every page! Hazel has the world’s least supportive husband, he thinks so little of her but so much of himself. It’s like he married Hazel because he saw her as a trophy, and once he had her he couldn’t care less about her. And that because so evident when she was accused of being a communist. All he could see was how it affected him and his career goals.

Dang! This book is dumb and burning! I start all books at a three star rating and from there the book can rise above or fall below three stars, this book is definitely down to two stars.

Okay, now that Hazel is in Trinidad visiting her maternal family, maybe that will give her the reality slap she needs about Adam’s raggedy self! Her relatives in Trinidad are some straight shooters. This so far as been the most interesting part of the book.

It’s a crime that this book is so boring and dry.

Not Hazel ruining her whole career for this no good man.

Hazel’s downfall was Adam.

I don’t like romance books and I am only listening to this because of the Good Reads challenge. I already do not like this book.
