God I love fantasy books about things that Definitely Happened in a Definitely Real world.

I don’t know if I’m in the mood to read 200 pages of rich people being awful, actual plot happens soon right?

I should’ve expected racist stuff in a book from the 1920s, however I was not prepared to read “The idea is if we don’t look out, the white race will be—will be utterly submerged. It’s all scientific stuff; it’s been proved” in my pre bed time reading

Oh absolutely. So far a fantastic, eerie, dusty, moth riddled story that I am eating up.

Do you ever read a book that has such great potential as a story but is so unbelievably goddamned horrible that it just absolutely enrages you? That’s this series for me. It’s so ass but I want to love it because the concept is fun but christ is it ever atrocious

I think they just took a middle chapter from the book and put it at the beginning and called it a prologue. It was 19 pages long for gods sake

This is so confusing the prologue starts in the middle of the story

Reading a T Kingfisher book makes me feel like I’m home after a long trip I LOVE HER

Bro this dudes a moron, and the girl also is. Getting in a car & going on a hike in the woods late at night w a man you met yesterday? And him showing her that he’s a werewolf on said horror story of a date??? I really hate DNFing ARCs but man. This is fucking brutal. & their texts are cringy highschooler texts.

Why are we suddenly adding POVs from all the side characters & what appears to be new romantic sub plots? (Oh wait, I know! Sequel potential 😑 I don’t mind this when it starts at the very beginning of a series or book, but shoehorning it in towards the ends feels so tacky ((especially from a red tower book)) but whatever man)

Maybe I’m misremembering the previous two books, but this one is lacking the silliness and lighthearted feeling of the first books in this series. I’m not DNFing just yet, and I’m hoping it gets better but so far I’m pretty disappointed.

Not even 100 pages into the book, we’ve mentioned that he’s killed with his bare hands three times, that his head hair is the same length as his beard hair twice, and how her skirt “swooshes” (short pleated skirts don’t really swoosh but whatever) three times. This book is already horrible and I love it.

I was planning on reading this whole book in one sitting to make my shift go by quicker, but idk if I can it feels so bleak and dreary and I just feel so bad for these siblings. It feels like I’m reading a book about a cult and everything falling apart after the leader died (even though it’s not a cult it’s just their family and the leader was their dad)

Oh HELL yes, my two favourite things. D&D and monster romance.

I am so unbelievably deep in a slump I couldn’t make it past 17 pages. Help
