Magical realism? Big fan.

was not expecting this to be science fiction

*I think this is going to be my favorite read of the year*

Only 50 pages in and I already have three quotes tabbed…. And I’m not a person who tabs or annotates books.

Here are two:

that was a good plot twist

while it’s not romantic fantasy is is definitely political fantasy and that is a vibe

10/10 for men yearning and characters w daddy issues

him knowing it was her the entire time….

him realizing she’s not mad at him but that she’s actually SCARED of him….

“Super Mario Kart” and “Bonneville Salt Flats” have been some of my favorite essays so far. I really loved the way they subtly explored structural inequities alongside the quieter, more personal challenges of growth and identity. Using the power-ups to explain how race, gender, and education shape opportunity was incredibly effective.
