i think the concept of having true names is such a clever way for tokarczuk to fully flesh out even the most minor characters and to emphasize the mc’s perspective. truthfully everything about this book is so very clever

very underrated, however i didn’t realize how modern this was and was slightly disturbed when a character dialed the police on their phone in the middle of nowhere 😭😭
