okay now i don’t get why everyone is so obsessed with odette, she was boring and kind of gross

this main character is very male centered

so far intriguing but i’m not loving the main character

so far the writing style is engrossing but the story itself is so depressing. and it also speaks to my own privilege that i’m having such a hard time connecting with the characters. makes you think

oh wait… i just realized why this is as shallow as a teaspoon! it’s relying on christian ideology to carry the weight of emotional depth and meaning in this story! same with morals in real life, it doesn’t quite work to just leave it up to the bible…

this book has single-handedly put me in a reading slump. this is such a snooze-fest with highly unrealistic and idealistic characters populating its faux deep story. it’s taking everything in me not to DNF this saccharine puddle.

My Therapist Says… finally. i think everyone who is feeling very self conscious needs to hear the phrase “no one is thinking about you”. the first true nugget of wisdom coming from the therapist and not the author is also telling about this book

chapters on Florence and new york were a turning point for me. i’m definitely going to finish the book
