Seriously though. I cried because the descriptions of what it’s like to live in a non-male autistic/ADHD brain were breathtaking. Those descriptions took my breath because they made it make sense like I’ve never been able to make it make sense before. She made it make sense.

I’m going to have my mom read this.

I deeply love this epic poem. I fell in love with the Beowulf story through Kevin Crossley-Holland’s picture book at age 11 (it is a book that is really for any age. The illustrations are beautiful). I first read Seamus Heaney’s seminal translation in middle school and have returned to it many times. I am revisiting it now because I am preparing to read Maria Dahvana Headley’s modern feminist translation.
