A lot of lore dumping upfront though and somewhat confusing- The main character lives in a fictional country but is talking to an American doctor about the civil war? Those sorts of settings always detract for me either be set in the real world or be fictional don’t try to be both

At first I did not understand that several years were meant to have passed between book 2 and book 3 and I was very confused

Less than 30 pages today but a better place to stop- the beginning of book 2. The end of book 1 was quite curious
