this whole sean & aria relationship thing is giving me the ick 😭

as a huge fan of the pll tv show, i put off reading these books because i thought it’d be impossible to separate the tv show from its source material, but i’m loving it so far! the characters and plots in the books have a lot of similarities to their show counterparts, and some of the plot points are similar, but it feels like a completely different story from what i essentially grew up watching on tv!

this is insta love, through & through. they’re both already in love with each other & that’s obvious. HOWEVER, i think a lot of readers aren’t considering that, while they may already be in love, zoe is a control freak & it’s really hard to pull yourself from a comfortable life/mindset once you’ve been in it for so long…so i hope that gets explores more in this book!!!

as a swiftie, i am livingggg for all of the references to taylor in this book!! it’s extremely fast paced. it’s a bit cheesy, but all romance books are to me. i also love the changing POV between zoe and zander, because i can see how both characters are thinking throughout and that’s something i always love in books like these!! it’s cute so far!! <3

i’m only a chapter in and i’m already hooked. i think holly has greatly improved her writing between the first book and this one. the story has taken a more serious turn and the narration from jude definitely reflects that!!!

so. i really like how modern the world in this story is. i was a little thrown off at the start, because most fantasy stories exist in a completely different world than the one we live in. jude is written exactly as a 17-year-old should be written and i love the first person pov. the world building is easy to follow; i just hope the action picks up soon.

i. love. nesta. archeron. her grief and trauma and torment remind me a lot of myself, tbh. it was hard reading the way she felt about herself and i related wholly when she cried to cass that she didn’t know how to fix herself. she’s a baddie and i’m a fan!!

It took me about 200 pages to really get into this story. Nesta’s terrible attitude and behavior was honestly insufferable, but I’m really loving how she’s starting to take accountability and try to heal from her traumas. If there’s one thing Sarah can do, it’s write about trauma in a realistic way. I’m also enjoying the deep dive into Cassian’s character.

honestly, i’m not sure if i like the pov changes in each chapter, with the exception of rhysand’s pov (i love reading the guy’s pov in any fantasy/romance story).
