Taking a break from horror to read about cuneiform rq

Ok yeah here’s what’s bothering me: the wattpad of it all. The “forbidden” romance isn’t my thing. The “my dog” thing doesn’t work for me. The dialogue is just okay. I do love the sex scenes, those are great! At times, giving wattpad smut but not in a distracting or necessarily bad way. I think I like it more than I dislike it. I will continue listening…. If only for the lesbian sex

I’ve only experienced this with one other book and it’s strange. When I put it down, I don’t really care to pick it back up. But when I do pick it up, I’m IN IT. Idk it’s well written and I enjoy it, but something is not working for me. Maybe the dialogue?

Listening on audiobook and the narrator is trying to do the Jodi Foster Clarice voice and the Anthony Hopkins Hannibal voice and it’s so strange. Just a very odd choice. Anyway, I feel this way about the movie, too: saying “he’s not trans, he just wants to be” is not the woke serve you think it is!!! I know it’s a product of its time or whatever but it takes away from the story!!!! 🤷‍♂️

Recommend me your favorite audiobooks?? I’m about to start my new job and I will have a lot of listening time available.

I’m reading this sooo slow but I’m reading it!!! This book is so fun. I love Elka. I love Wolf. If Wolf dies I’ll cry for days and I’m not joking.

Takes a second to get into the writing style. I am pretty opposed to writing accents phonetically but this is like…. Fine…. I’m enjoying it enough to keep reading!

I remember bits and pieces of this as it’s happening! Tbh this is exactly the kinda book I want to write: scary enough for adults that it holds up, but really intended for kids. THANK YOU Mr. Delaney for not shying away from the gore and guts and blood and rats!! It’s good for the whole family!!

I was OBSESSED with these books in middle school before I read HP and Percy Jackson and NO ONE has heard of them. But I brought them up to Ozzie AND HE READ THEM IN MIDDLE SCHOOL TOO!!! Now he’s rereading them and I’m jealous so I’m rereading them too

This was my intro to fantasy!! This series really gave me the love of reading. Super excited to see how they hold up!!

I’ve been struggling with reading this year, but I finally read a book for the first time in months!! Wahoo!! I’m gonna try a bunch of genres out and see what gets me hooked again

Starting and DNFing a lot of books :/ just got And Then There Were None on audiobook so maybe I’ll return to reading, but idk a lot of YouTubers just dropped new videos…. I’ll be back reading in the new year

You ever return the wrong book in Libby and then when you go to check it back out, it has a 18 week wait? No? Just me?

How is there still an hour left oh my god we get it they’re all guilty blah blah blah I’m so bored everything was predictable. Now the twist has been revealed and it was exactly what I expected

Seeing I still have 2 hours left of this audiobook…. Fuck. I’m not going to DNF, I’m almost through. Here’s my preliminary review:
2.5 stars
1. The voice actors are not very good… eek
2. None of these characters are fleshed out at all. No one is interesting to me. Their POVs all blend together. The concierge is entirely unused
3. IM SO BORED! This book is too long.

Spoilers!! My partner is asleep so I have to update again…. Omg …. HE FUCKED EVERY MEMBER OF THE FAMILY??? LMAOOOO I am glad there’s some gays here!!!! Thank youuuuu Ms. Foley!!!! I’m glad this wasn’t revealed right after the trauma thing. We had a lot of time to sit with the trauma before he came out. I think putting them side by side would have been…. Distasteful. 20 more “suddenly!”s

Enjoying this but not as much as The Guest List. Take a shot every time someone says “suddenly” if you’re trying to get wasted real quick!!

Listening to the audiobook and these actors are sooo talented. The start to this is not as strong or intriguing to me as The Guest List’s, but I’m still really enjoying it! It does feel like I’ve wasted an hour so far and I’m worried that the twist is going to be very similar to TGL…. But we shall see!!!

I went through and adjusted some of my ratings from the year after having a few months to reflect on them. I took some books from 5 stars to 4 stars because I just didn’t think about them now that I’m done reading them. Few books have stuck with me the way I’m Glad My Mom Died and Brainwyrms have, so I didn’t feel like any other books “deserved” the extra star lmao

This is feeling like a 4.5 for me. I am soooo soooo invested. And then every now and again it feels a little preachy for me.
