I’ve finished the Running Man, and now I’m about 3/4 through Rage. My uncle also loves Stephen King and let me borrow this (his favorite Stephen King books). Interested to hear what he thinks of them, especially knowing now that King pulled Rage from publishing.. for good reason sadly..

Not finishing this, unfortunately.. My opinion: Every single character is a one-dimensional caricature of a person. They have one trait, ideal, or flaw that the entire character is centered around. The good guys are good, and the bad guys are bad, and that’s all there is to it! I liked the concept, but it’s missing complexity and nuance in a major way.

So far, so good! :)

The characters are pretentious pricks. I want to keep reading (listening), but I also can’t stand a single one of them.. I just want to tell them to get over themselves and play mermaids in a pool. What does Plato know about playing mermaids in a pool??

Hey so I was wrong about this love story and I adore it. Just popping over here to say that I judged it too soon!

Truly is for anyone interested in the most influential texts in history (aka the Bible) and is accessible to all regardless of religious affiliation. I so appreciate this!

Idk what’s wrong with me that I dislike so many book couples and romances :( I’ve liked one (a relationship that I won’t spoil in Blood Over Bright Haven). I think at this point it’s a me problem lol

Ooh wait another relationship I like: Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy from Pride and Predjudice. That’s two!

Page-turner!

Again, I think the characters are pretty one-dimensional, and I dislike the dialogue writing style. Art3mis was clearly written by a man 🙄 But the story and world building and whimsy are mostly there. There’s just pockets of visceral cringe in a book that I mostly don’t want to put down.

On the last stretch..

I veryyyy much dislike the characters and the writing style. The thing keeping me going is the world the story is set in.

I accidentally just saw a spoiler when I looked at movie images 😭 I have some hope for the storyline based on that information, but we’ll see..
