very fun book so far! so far my eyes are on aunt carol. nathan is being sus but not in the “i killed your parents” way. more like “i have too many secrets and may be a psycho”.

Finally some chemistry here!! I love Alex for her 😍 so far.
Some of her thoughts during the introduction were cringe, but that’s to be expected lol.

it’s a fun book so far. she has painted a good cultural picture lol with the prayers and everything. also, i understand how she’s feeling not wanting to mention her accomplishments bc of who’s in the room.

so much interesting theory in chapter 9. i have never in my life read a book like this. it has so many new things and hashed out theories tied into the faith- just wow! one thing that resonated w me from this chapter was that just how strings oscillate in string theory, paradoxes are also oscillatory, just in another portion/dimension of our being. so interesting.

ch 7 was all about imagining the next dimensions as well as some arguments on ID. some parts reminded me of Flatland!

ch 6 discussed studies regarding the significance of prayer on healing. if someone agrees with scientific studies on cigarette smoking being negative, they should agree with the number of studies citing the statistical significance of prayer, namely byrd’s and harris’ studies (w 393 and 1005 ppl, respectively)

chapter 5 was amazing!! using mathematical models for world pop w(t), christian pop c(t), & evangelized pop e(t), curves were fitted to determine when the whole world will be evangelized. it was 2033 😳 WOW! good work drs bittinger and sarkar. i am happy i got to read this.

loved the prophecy chapter (ch 4). please include these/break it down in presentation. i think it will be a nice addition.

grace. ppl doing things for us/giving us things that we don’t deserve is also grace (holding doors open, paying it forward, picking up trash, etc.) The Lord has extended unfathomable grace to you every day- be willing to be His Hands and Feet and extend grace to others just because.

the first chapter of this book has had a remarkable effect on me. often when i think of paradox, i think of contradiction; something negative. but this book has broken that down for me. paradox is often misunderstood, and Scripture uses it to cause us to dig deeper. there is often a hard truth behind it. loved this chapter, and excited for more nuggets :)

steinbeck has such a unique way of writing dialogue. the dialogues are not real. people do not speak like lee, abra, cal, adam, and aron do. they speak with their hearts between their teeth, and they bite down violently, allowing the blood to splatter in the faces of those they converse with. and those with the blood-stained faces do not care. except cathy. im starting to think she is the most human of the bunch.

kate’s hands are old and arthritic! she clasps them and covers them in pure, white, silk gloves, and removes them in the darkness of her room. she rages when people see the evil and writhes when she bends them towards activity. useless hands! hands that were once used to shoot and thieve and fornicate and lay idly are now rendered useless, incapable of the evil they once knew and the tenderness they never did.

this book is so strange and quiet, and I have nothing to say. Like the book, I will keep my words quiet, but just know the turmoil and lessons beneath them is roaring.

this book is leaving me with a very meditative feeling. it’s so uneventful but so much is happening at the same time. steinbeck is a talent writer. writing about the human experience- in all its mundaneness and glory- is nothing short of difficult. but i suppose when one allows themself to feel every inch of life.. they’re only bound to be fluent.

the end of chapter 25 is such a satisfying chapter like yesssssss…
hate meets its match in love, evildoing in forgiveness, selfishness in selflessness. good will always triumph over evil. kate met her match in adam. he chose the path left travelled- goodness made her uneasy. she’s not used to it. wow.

i wonder… are there really people out there like cathy? i don’t mean people that don’t feel for others- i mean ppl that deliberately act in ways to harm others in even the minutest moments (although no moment is truly minute) of life, for not much of a selfish gain at the end? i wonder.. and also why? they must not believe in God, so what then is the purpose of such? maybe that is the reason…

so far, this book is calm but intriguing. i hate the ableism in the chapter where the author introduces cathy, though. it disgusts me.
the mellow on/off relationship between adam and charles post adam’s military service is very… understandable for some reason. although i think they get agitated too easily, particularly charles.

in protestantism, we tend to neglect beauty in favor of a “come as we are” attitude. i think we forget that although we should come as we are, we are made beautiful. we are made beautifully, in the image of God, and nothing can change that. so although we wrestle with sin and satan, we should still strive for beauty and perfection and holiness.

i was recommended this book by someone! i love books that are beautiful & straight-to-the-point, & i have a feeling this will be one of those. so far, one point that struck me was the point that Christ came to redeem the whole man. not just the soul, but the body, too. & our bodies will be resurrected! we often neglect our bodies, but they are an important part of our being. this is one reason why art is important.

napoleon is acting a lot like a human farmer.. maybe it was never about equality… maybe it was always about switching the reigns of power. maybe equality doesn’t exist in this time.

do the farm animals not know that there are other farms and other humans? they do not know how big the world is. just as us humans have rejected the only One who can perfectly lead, the only One who knows how big the universe is, in exchange for our own measly “intelligent” (pig) leaders, who are wise in their ways, but blind overall.

Funny how Eli believes EO’s change, but he acknowledges that he is still him, at least for the the most part. So why doesn’t he stop being self-centered for a minute or so and think that maybe there are things that he doesn’t know. That maybe EO’s are still themselves with tweaks. Like all humans.
