For this being the second book, it honestly feels kind of all over the place. The storyline jumps around a lot, making it hard to stay fully locked in. Just when one plot starts to build, it shifts to something else, which takes away from the flow. While there are moments that keep it interesting, the lack of consistency makes the story feel rushed and slightly confusing at times.

Then there’s Mo. Forcing Carter Junior to give up boxing for an entire year just to pull him deeper into cartel business was hard to read. Boxing was one of the few positive outlets for Carter Jr., and Mo taking that away felt selfish and controlling. At this point, Mo really needs to chill, because he’s starting to mirror the same reckless, power-hungry behavior as his Uncle Mecca and we all know how that goes.

This part of the story honestly had me side-eyeing a lot. Why is Aurora involved with a grown man? That situation felt uncomfortable and unnecessary, and it wasn’t handled with the care it should have been. On top of that, Miamor somehow still pulling strings while locked up is getting a bit unrealistic.

As a reader, it’s starting to feel overloaded—too many twists, reveals, and side plots happening at once. Instead of building tension, it makes the story harder to follow and stay invested in. At this point, I’m spending more time trying to keep up than actually enjoying what’s happening.

At this point, Yazmin has seriously overstayed her welcome. The tension surrounding her character is so intense that it feels like only a matter of time before things explode. Honestly, part of me is waiting for that inevitable moment when Carter gets caught slipping with Yazmin, because the fallout would be nothing short of explosive.

All of a sudden, the book drops the bomb that Miamor and Carter are getting a divorce, and honestly, it just feels like too much. There was little to no buildup, no real explanation, and it leaves you wondering how we even got here in the first place. Instead of adding depth, the twist adds confusion. When did they get married?🤔

One thing that really threw me off was Murder’s return to the story. His character felt unnecessary at that point, like he was brought back just to stir chaos rather than to move the plot forward in a meaningful way. Instead of adding depth or closure, his reappearance felt forced and left me questioning what purpose he actually served in the bigger picture.

It’s Miamor for me! She came back full force, standing ten toes down for her man. Her loyalty and intensity added a whole new layer to the story, and every scene with her had real impact.
