His clinical look at the reactions of individuals to the horrors they are experiencing brings a sense of distance to the reader. Frankl does not believe in the God of the Bible and yet, his observations align with what God has declared about the nature of man. The second half is very clinical.

A young man goes on a trip through Europe with his father and great-Grandfather as his great-Grandfather recounts his experience as an American soldier towards the end of WWII. The young man realizes that war is not as glorious as he had thought from his experience playing video games. A good introduction to the realities of war without being graphic.
