“Slaves aren’t people who are treated like objects, they are objects” really pulled me from the story. Will be DNFing. The humanist in me couldn’t stand (or sit) for that.

I entirely understand that this text is extremely situational... but this 27 page intro is killing me a little bit (but in a good way I think?)

After this I really need to read the library books I have checked out…

This is such a classic Rainbow Rowell book and exactly the thing I've come to expect from her. Cutesy and heart-wrenching in all of the right places. <3

Once I get over the vague oddness of the entire situation and more blatantly ignore the fact that Colleen Hoover blurbed it, this will be the cutest book in the entire world. That may be kind of harsh, so I'll make up for it by saying shy, cynical girl meets knows-everyone-kind-boy is one of my new favorite tropes.
