So….its like a daily journal of a man stuck on a desert island.

I feel bad for him mostly because his story has to compete with Tom Hank in “Castaway”. But he doesn’t know that, and that’s not fair.

All things considered, he’s doing quite well 🏝️👍🏼

It’s no “Heaven is for Real”…

But if this man can give us the vampire/zombie apocalyptic thriller “I Am Legend”…

I’m sure he can spin together an intriguing research based narrative about what happens when you die.

Actually the movie starring Robin Williams made quite an impression on me back in the 90’s, and I’ve always wanted to drive into the source material.

I am better for hearing the tale of D’Artagnan and the Three Musketeers. A story that demands the reader’s attention and imagination beyond the final page.

I am grateful that the story continues. Ghosts of the past and present strife collide in a drama that only Dumas can so skillfully craft.

I like this story more and more as it goes on, in homage to the original story, and for its own unique themes and plot.

In what way is the Bible to be studied?”
as theology?
as instructive?
as history?

Throughout history & present time, efforts to understand the Bible (in scholarship and the common church group) ironically disregard “as literature.” To what effect?

Alter asserts “A complete infusion of literary art and theology…the fullest perception of the former dependent on the fullest grasp of the latter.”

I concur.

Even those who are not fans of Sci-fi would find this book intriguing and entertaining. This is my first Heinlein read and I can tell why he’s gained so many accolades. I love how he develops his characters.

Read this book if you haven’t

Honestly I only decided to read this book because I found out it preceded another book in a series. I was far more intrigued by the sequel “Something Wicked This Way Comes.”

But this book is produced profound thoughts in me. Deeply symbolic and philosophical, the concept of Dandelion Wine carries a deep ecclesiastical tone.

Brady uniquely uses a patchwork of short stories to tell a bigger story.

Step 1 – watch “2001: A Space Odyssey”

Step 2 – Read “2001: A: Space Odyssey”

Step 3 – Wrestle with the reality that “2001: A Space Odyssey” is one of the greatest movies ever made.

Repeat.

* and read this book for good measure.

I can 100% confirm that this book is not to the level of RP1 or RP2. I was totally down to spend the expected amount of time observing the complex plot unfold. Much to my surprise and a little to my disappointment, we are caught up to speed on pretty much everything before even having time to develop a connection with the characters. It’s also a bit predictable. All that to say, I like it ;-)

Keep firing Ernest!

Oooo this feels almost exactly like Ready Player One. Not sure if that’s a good thing or bad thing. Barrage after barrage of pop culture references. This also book ties in quietly heavily “enders game” buy Orson Scott Card, and the plot is shaping up to be very very similar. I am hungry to keep going and find out how this book sets itself apart. It will have to fight hard to be original.

This book is like 40% about the actual Three Musketeers. Not complaining, just wonder what a more suitable title might be. Something that captures the spirit of conspiracy and intrigue, rivals and alliances, France and England…………… “A Tale of Two…”…no.

The Three Musketeers is fine.
