Doing a re-read to refresh before 6&7, and getting out of the reading slump slowly!

Reading this w Nili as our little psychoed book club:) don’t usually work with children so I’m treating this book like the peds therapy bible

Reading this with a client right now and liking the sparknotes on attachment theory! Needed a refresh and actually applied a lot of stuff in the first two chapters to people on my caseload so heyyyy

Damn never finished and my first ever DTF. I usually really love TJR so I don’t think it was the book, it was me :p. Wasn’t in a space to receive this novel and reading slump commenced lol. I’ll pick it up again eventually. just owed the public library $30 so oh well had to return her

It’s been MONTHS since I’ve reopened this book and been in a long book slump this year, but I’ll eventually finish it. Predictable easy trope so hoping it doesn’t take too long to finish. Not bad

Re-reading before I watch the movie adaptation and since I read this back in ‘22 and was my first Emily Henry! Initial thoughts: don’t occur to me that poppy is a bit selfish. Interesting to re-read something after I’ve also changed in the past 4 years but still good! Hoping the movie doesn’t bastardize..

I’m loving it! Aisha has a Taylor Jenkins Reid quality to her writing and character development. The plots interesting, the dialogue and imagery captures your attention, and there have already been several sections I’ve audibly gasped.

A book club read but I’m liking it so far! I think it’s really indicative of a good book when I’m immediately sucked into the authors descriptive imagery, right from the first chapter. So far pretty good!

definitely skimming through some sections but overall pretty intrigued? Idk. I feel like the plot is a bit too simplistic even with a supposed shocking plot reveal and it being fantasy. Carmillas character is confusing and their attraction doesn’t make sense

Not something I’d pick up normally but alas, a book club choice! I get that this is set during the Industrial Revolution era and patriarchy is ever present but damn, I want to strangle Henry. Confused by the plot so far but interesting enough!

I’ve read one other book by poston and it seems her writing style is essentially a unique central plot but with predictable pieces. I was 50 pages in and already could tell the male run in was the guy she was destined for. The whole concept of a time travel apt has sm potential, yet it’s too linear. Also icks me out when you meet a guy for the first time & he already has a nickname for you. Yuck

Attachment to characters? Check. Tugging at my heartstrings already agh

Picking reading back up again after a month hiatus and even slumps are intentional timing I guess. I picked back up right where I needed to be. The message for today is so applicable to the season I’m in right now

some things are a bit redundant but the signs of trauma exposure has been really helpful getting me through my clinical week so far. Reading this in like 10 pg increments for risk of flooding though

I don’t mind SPICE (all caps) if the plot is equally progressing but this feels just too much spice and mediocre plot of “will they wont they” for like 150 pages. I need more backstory pleaseeeee
