i restarted the book bc there was too much of a gap from when i last was reading 😭 currently on vacation in spain and i’m glad i chose to read this book. the way the author writes is so good; you can really understand the feelings Autumn is having. the things she’s dealing with kind of hits pretty close to home.
hopefully i finish this book by the time i finish vacay!

ok i needed to read a little bit more and um… what the hell?? everything is just going to shit and idk if or when it’ll get better.
it’s great he’s found his brothers but it’s the fact that they’ve both changed and no longer how he remembers them is what’s so painful to read :(

whoopsies i barley had time to read it these last few days but now im back ! ngl im more hooked on the story as i kept reading.
him navigating america as a new immigrant and having to face so much alone stirred something in me. it felt like a dull heartache from the relatability on trying to find your people in such a foreign place that wasn’t very welcoming. i can’t imagine what the next chapters will be like

also i bought this book a few years ago but i’ve never gotten around to reading it until now… 💀

i didn’t expect to read and visualize many moments/experiences that i could personally relate to while growing up in the philippines. despite it being a decades old book, i can identify various aspects of filipino values and culture that is ever present/reflected in Filipino society today.

the imagery and descriptions are very well-written. the parent-child relationship and experience as first gen immigrants was something i found myself relating to. i wonder what’ll happen with his relationship with Trevor…
