I started this book because I heard it was set in Paraguay. But it's actually about an English dude who comes to Paraguay and Argentina to poach native birds and bring them to Europe (yuck). He also talks sooooo in depth about each bird, which reminds me on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (I've been trying to finish it for 4 years). I'll save it for later in the summer when I'm actually bored.

Really enjoying this so far. It's a lot of fun to switch between Joad's POV and the neutral, omnipotent narrator. I also really enjoy how anti-capitalism the book is. It seems like it won't have a happy ending, but I'm hoping everything works out.

I’ve never read a philosophy/poetry book before. It’s pretty interesting to see how some ideas transcend time or country. I’m not a huge fan of the poems (not sure) that focus on qualities of leaders of countries. I prefer those that focus on individual qualities and improvement.
