Definitely an uncomfortable but captivating book. As the first few chapters are a description of one form of slavery in the US in the fictionally retold year of 1830. Its one of those books you have to get to about chapter 10-13 (about 40%) to start feeling good about.

And although it is fictional, it seems to describe in similar fashion the life of a slave like that of Caroline Quarlls or Joshua Glover.

Any book that starts with "Assume you are human..." is always interesting to me.

This book is honestly been very helpful to me. Although I went through it pretty much all in "one sitting" it is written as a devotional (a book to help you be ardently dedicated and loyal to a topic). It has been very helpful, although some of the examples seem to be more fore those of the Choctaw.

""I read a book while you were sleeping," Mosscap said, holding up its pocket computer. "And I would really like to discuss it with you." Dex blinked twice. "You woke me up to talk about a book?"" 😄

I really like this book, and I honestly didn't want to finish it. It was warm, interesting, with a protagonist that I felt that I could relate to relatively. It felt like the literal version of a hug and I really don't know why.
