This is an emotional quick read in which characters are granted the opportunity to see a glimpse of either the past or future—without the ability to change anything. It explores regrets, hopes, and touches on some sensitive topics (death, Alzheimer’s, and loss). The simplicity of the story is a clever mechanism that allows the book to leave a lasting emotional impression; the story is one to be felt, not quoted.

There so many errors that a good editor should have caught. For example, the dress Dixie selects for Charlotte is described as having elbow-length sleeves, but in the next sentence, Dixie calls it cap-sleeved (quite different). Similarly, when Katherine tells Charlotte she was neighbors with her husband’s family until she was a freshman, she then says she moved in 7th grade. It’s getting very distracting.
