I've been reading some of the more critical views on this book, and I think people are misconstruing what they perceive as a means of justifying bad behavior with an attempt to simply explain (what may be perceived as) bad behavior. However, I think Haidt's framework can definitely be combined with other frameworks for evaluating systems of power and society at large.
