Movie Jack: inherently unstable, violent and crazy from the start.
Book Jack: flawed and an alcoholic trying to redeem himself and be a somewhat better person/father/husband. Succumbing to the evil of the hotel.

Interesting differences so far. I could never see why King didn’t love The Shining movie but there are differences in how his main characters are portrayed for sure.
