4 days ago I said that I did not like this book. I am now halfway through. I say, with my whole heart, god bless the lesbians.

one chapter in and I'm already not a big fan, but i am notoriously bad with dropping books after one chapter so I'm going to push through because I have been promised a good story.

Every issue was thought of in this book, which I appreciated. The distaste between species and the lack of understanding between them and their children was especially interesting. What I admire the most about Butler's writing in this book, though, was how well she seems to understand human nature. One of those books that mames you go "jesus. we do kinda suck."

So far, I'm not feeling it, but I cannot put it down. I blinked and finished 5 chapters. I think I'm really just rooting for the author. To empathize with her and sit passenger to this period of her life feels like a study in the full range of human emotion - grief being the biggest one.
