Pretty engaging, but the protagonist is… frustrating? Annoying? Difficult to like.

It’s been a page-turner from the start- it’s terrifying and I love it. Already had 1 visceral reaction to a scene involving a certain creepy-crawly and am dreading/anticipating more to come.

The constant quips are exhausting. So are the overwritten descriptions of every tiny thing that can be described. I am increasingly annoyed by this narration. Also some of the swearing feels inauthentic - like a precocious grade schooler trying to imitate a Quentin Tarantino character.

Good, but a little too heavy on the similes and metaphors. I love good, descriptive writing, but it’s a bit overkill throughout the book so far.
