it’s just lore slop oh my GOD. also, author has a habit of making his female protagonists just completely terrible people who are responsible for humanity’s destruction over and over and over again. every book, it is the women who lead to humanity’s dooming and the men who perpetually save it

why does every sci fi book written by a man include an excessive amount of “guy lusts after woman” scenes like PLEEEASE.

got to the big reveal and idk, it’s still kind of boring. super science-y sci fi is unfortunately very masculine and very unimaginative.

so far one of the best books i’ve ever read 🙏

very much in the sphere of PK Dick’s 1960s books, while also picking up on some of the timeline hopping of Le Guin’s Lathe of Heaven (which is also influenced by Dick’s 60s work).

oh my GOD there’s a fucking “while you blah blah blah i studied the blade” line in this book, this is HORRIBLE prose. and this is the author’s only book series too. it sucks that the world building is fun because this is a DISASTER book
